She was hit by a car while trying to cross the road so I had a little reproduction of a dented fender made out of gold and I always wear it around my neck.
(there is also a cracked windshield hanging in our living room)

Every year, on the anniversary of her death I give my kids lots of candy and tell them it's because grandma died (they get so excited, sometimes they ask, "is grandma almost dead yet?". Hehe kids right? they're precious)

On top of the candy we also let them put on a pageant and invite all of her friends over to watch. My girl plays grandma, and my oldest boy plays the 1998 Buick Riviera (we dress the littlest one up us the green stoplight).

Can you think of any other great ways to bring dignity to the life of someone you love?

I can't tell if this is real or not but, as usual, I will treat it is if it is.

As long as you keep your grandma's memory alive, she is alive in spirit... I don't mean a ghost or a soul in heaven, just that you are part of her and your memories keep her memories form fading.

I don't know about the candy thing, but just knowing that you are celebrating her life is a wonderful thing.

Take out pictures, tell stories about her life and your experiences with her... What you are doing is a beautiful thing that i wish more people would do.

Being upset over someone passing away is, in my mind, selfish because they are now at peace and though you can't make new memories with them, those you have will never die as long as you tell them to the next generation and make them understand how important these stories and memories are.
