Lately, most of these columns start the same way - with me luxuriating in my bed, which I ve equipped with a doll and a teddy bear, with C and B T-shirts, to represent my wife and me, a small utility stand with two phones, television and component controls, a pen and a legal pad, plus 30 or 40 articles from a variety of sources, a couple of books, magazines and a small pink dog bed, complete ...
Why should my daughter not get a happy meal toy because others cannot monitor their fat kids?

My daughter's favorite toy is a Polly Pocket doll she got from a happy meal. Out of all the toys that I have bought for her, it is that Polly Pocket that goes everywhere, even to bed, with her. Why should she, who is a very slender child by the way, be punished because others cannot not take their fatso kids to fast food places?
The point is not that I can just get her a doll from Wal Mart. I know this. McDonalds has put toys in happy meals for years and suddenly people are all up in arms over childhood obesity. The problem is the parenting, not McDonalds.

Why should "fatso" kids not be allowed to have Happy Meal toys unless their parents pay another buck or two for McDonald's to throw a veggie in the bag that the kid won't eat anyway?

You can lead a little piggie to a fruit cup, but you cannot make the little piggie eat it.

History of Dolls and Their Clothes

The earliest dolls were either used for ritual purposes, but dolls as toys were not uncommon either. Dolls were used as toys among many ancient peoples. Innu "tea dolls" were carried by little girls while traveling. Other dolls from ancient peoples include Inuit dolls clothed with furs and rag dolls. Dolls like these were made from wood, ivory, or wax.

Rag dolls were among the earliest toy dolls. The oldest rag doll was found in a child's grave dating from 300 BC. African slaves were known to have made rag dolls for their children, too. The Dutch and the Germans developed the peg wooden doll. These dolls were designed for poor children to play with. These kinds of dolls were often clothed with scraps of clothing.

During the Industrial Period, dolls became collectors' items. Dolls from this period were polished and dressed elegantly. German bisque dolls are particularly made from unglazed bisque porcelain. The Parian doll is similar to German bisque dolls except that its hair is molded as part of the body.

These kinds of dolls evolved into adult fashion dolls and crying baby dolls. Nowadays, they are made of plastic or composite resin. However, there are collectible ceramic and wax dolls still being manufactured. Along with the dolls themselves, there are doll clothes being sold in toy stores, like clothes for american girl doll.

To the dismay of many, most dolls' shoes are sold separate from the clothes. In any case, people are glad to know that there is as much variety for clothes for american girl doll as for shoes. There are shoes for various sports. There are also shoes meant for casual and formal wear. Child and baby dolls' clothes and shoes are patterned after real children's for added realism.

Many children like that their dolls have as many clothes as they do. It gives them freedom in playing with their dolls however they wish.
