Can the Learning Curve Thomas tracks and pieces be used with other train sets?

Would like to purchase a Melissa and Doug train set, but was wondering if I could attach a few of the 'official' Thomas pieces from Learning Curve to it. Specifically the Roundhouse, Toby's Windmill and some of the talking stations. Thank you! : )

I'm not totally certain but I think you should be OK. I was looking at a Melissa and Doug wooden train set earlier today and it said the track pieces are 'compatible with popular wooden railway systems'. That would seem to suggest it would be fine with the Thomas track pieces etc.

Melissa & Doug – A Company that is Still Growing

There are a few ways on how we can describe companies.  It's good to classify these companies because there are a lot of them.  This can help you steer clear away from companies that you shouldn't be dealing with.  This is very important especially if you're going to buy the products for your kid.  As you probably know, exposing your kid to bad products is really bad for his development.

A company can be classified as a factory.  Unfortunately, there are companies that don't really care about the kids.  All they want is to have a factory set up so that they can put out toys after toys so that they can take advantage of the huge demands for kids' products.  They just want huge paydays and manufacturing toys is a sure way to do it.

Fortunately, there are companies that can be classified as a family.  These companies usually start small.  They start from the ground up with a few trusted people and when they grow, the people grow with them.  This is why they establish a good relationship to the point of being a family.

A good example is Melissa & Doug.  If you're looking for a company that is a family, then they're the perfect example.  The company was started by, you guessed it!  Melissa and Doug started the company more than 2 decades ago.  Just like a lot of companies that are also families, they started the business in the garage of Doug's parents!

It's a running joke that Doug was too chicken to ask Melissa to marry him so he proposed something else – start a business!  That was in August 1988 and 2 months later, they're operating in the basement careful not to make too much noise.

Melissa & Doug then spent a lot of time, effort and money to come up with their first product.  This is what makes companies like this different from factory-types.  They don't want a trial and error process.  They want to make sure that the product that they'll make will really be beneficial for kids.  Fortunately, they were able to come up with their first product 3 years later and kids couldn't be happier!  They came up with the Fuzzy Farm puzzle and the company's popularity skyrocketed.

With their success, their little family grew and they couldn't fit in the basement anymore.  They were able to set up an office not too far from Doug's house because they want to set up an office that's still close to home.  They carefully chose the employees because they're looking for family members and even if they're already working out of an office, the same philosophy still remains.  The main difference is they now have a bigger family and it's still growing bigger.  The Melissa & Doug company treats customers as if they're part of the family and this is why they continue to bring out great toys.
