Who designed clothing for people during the enlightenment?

Well I'm making a research about fashion during the enlightenment and I had this question. I know normal people's clothing was inspired by people from the courts and royalty but I was wondering who DESIGNED (and made) these people's clothing, please help I've tried to find this everywhere
also if u have any of the people who did it would be really helpful, I've tried to look everywhere but I can't find any name
also were did these people got their ideas?
and also were any of the ideas they expressed were related to the enlightenment

I don't think they had "designers" and house names to the extent that we do today. For one, they did not have effective sewing machines during the enlightenment period that would enable the mass-production of clothing. For another, they actually didn't have that many garments as we do today. There would be no need, for example, for a walk-in closet. Commodities like clothing were very expensive, compared to income.

They had expert tailors, who probably were trained, according to the European tradition, in guilds and apprenticeships, etc. I am only guessing, of course, but everything else worked that way. They probably knew of certain patterns, current trends and styles, and and certain available cloths (which were also complicated to obtain) and custom made dresses.

This is actually a tough question to research.

People got their ideas from what other people were wearing and from paintings. Lithographs and woodcuts were also circulating so people knew what was in the "air" ... If a girl in Mainz or Florence saw a picture of a cute dress that came from Paris, she could go and have it made. Tailors would have made it their business to follow trends, I imagine.

It is no different from today. A designer like Georges Marciano (Guess) might see a picture of what Gaultier is doing, and get some inspiration. But today's industry is much more efficient.
